Cape Town to Kruger is South Africa's most popular travel combination — and for good reason. It showcases two completely different faces of an extraordinary country: the coastal, urban, cosmopolitan energy of Cape Town, and the raw, wild, primal experience of a Big Five safari in the African bush.
The transition is made by a 2-hour internal flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit (Eastgate Airport, closest to central Kruger) — available daily and surprisingly affordable. This replaces a 20-hour drive that would otherwise make the combination impractical.
Whether you begin in Cape Town (our recommendation for those arriving internationally into Cape Town) or begin in Kruger (better if arriving into Johannesburg), the circuit works beautifully in either direction.
We build these combinations daily for travelers of all budgets — from budget self-drive configurations (Cape Town Airbnb + Kruger rest camp) to luxury lodge collections.
Start in Cape Town. Table Mountain, Cape Peninsula, penguin colony, and Stellenbosch wine over 3–5 days.
Daily direct flights (FlySafair/Airlink) in approximately 2 hours. Private transfer to your Kruger lodge.
3–5 nights of Big Five game drives. Guided or self-drive. Inside Kruger or private bordering reserve.
Return to Cape Town via Johannesburg for international connections, or connect directly internationally from OR Tambo.
